Oh look! It’s a Banana Tree. I took this photo during a visit to the Botanical Garden in Singapore.

Here are some books that I have come across and found them to be quite useful. Putting them down here for future easy references.

This post is a summary of a webinar organised by NUS CFG that I attended on the 8th June 2021. All the pictures and text below were made with reference to the webinar presentation.

Why 90?

First impressions matters everywhere you go! It is important to make sure you are seen in a favourable light by your employer, especially in the first 90 days of your job. Don’t be mistaken that once you have received a job offer, you are safe and secure in your new job. In fact, you have not yet fully passed the company’s evaluation of you. …

“曲水流觞” 是一种古代文人的娱乐方式。它的最早出现是在西周时代(Western Zhou Dynasty),在三月上巳日(Double Third Festival)人们举行祓禊仪式A sacrificing ceremony to honour the ancestors)之后会玩的一场游戏。

Writing clean code is what you must do in order to call yourself a professional. There is no reasonable excuse for doing anything less than your best.

Introduction

The rule of thumb for a project to scale fast, be done quickly, be easy to write and be easy to read is to have clean code. Deployment has always been a source of headache for me. After I spend days working on a particular project, I find myself struggling to deploy it. As a cheapskate, I refuse to fork out money to deploy my application. Fortunately, there is something called Git pages which is free of charge and allows free website hosting! The only pre-requisite is that one needs to own a GitHub account and as far as I know, one account is entitled to one free hosting domain.

Assuming you are roughly familiar with React and own a GitHub account…..this post serves to document the…

Feeling uninspired lately, I picked up this book from the library nearby. It is a pretty well written book that details the Seven Principles of Innovation, inspired by Steve Job. This post will be a summary of the 7 principles listed in the book, peppered with some of my own views.

Here are the 7 principles:

  • Do What You Love. Think differently about your career.
  • Put a dent in the Universe. Think differently about your vision.
  • Kick Start Your Brain. Think differently about how you think.
  • Sell Dreams, Not Products. Think differently about your customer.
  • Say No to 1000 Things…
